[style=width:400px; height:200px; background-image:url(http://imageshack.us/a/img526/6164/makennaapp.jpg);] kenzie's a cool kid to play.
"Chill, Psynner, you're fine," Kenzie murmured to the bay gelding she was leading. He jigged next to her, ears pricked forward, the very picture of energy. Kenzie knew better than to try and correct him; a sensitive horse like him got offended at the smallest transgression. She had had about ten pounds of homework the previous day and had been unable to ride, so of course Psynner was on edge. Eight hours of turnout per day plus a professional ride only took the edge off his excitability. Kenzie knew he did best with two or three rides per day, but she couldn't get out of school enough to do it herself.
The walk to the north outdoor seemed to take longer than usual. Kenzie surveyed the arena and confirmed that it was empty before she swung the gate open. The south arena had four riders in it - probably jumping day for them, but Kenzie needed to feel more comfortable on the flat before the Thanksgiving Charity show.
She led Psynner into the arena and closed the gate after him. Girth: check. Stirrups down: check. Draw reins: check. Kenzie arranged her reins in her left hands and put her toe in the stirrup, preparing to mount. The excitable gelding did his usual routine of dancing forward and sideways away from his rider, but Kenzie, well-used to following him, was hardly put off. She didn't bother keeping him stopped while she collected her stirrups, since that was an exercise in futility.
Kenzie took a deep breath and sunk her heels down in her stirrups. Psynner tucked his head to his chest, regardless of the fact that Kenzie had not picked up her reins, and bobbed his neck, as if he was anxious to go forward. Kenzie squeezed lightly with her calves and caught the explosive forward motion with a half-halt, resulting in a quick but controlled trot.
They had hardly gotten halfway down the rail when Psynner flicked his ears backward, Kenzie's only warning to sit tight and hold on for the coming spook. Sure enough, he burst forward for a good twenty feet before returning his attention to his rider. She glanced backward - someone had opened the gate and come in, but she couldn't spare any more attention to find out who it was. Psynner was tough enough to demand 100% of Kenzie's mind.

Aaron walked towards North Outdoor Arena holding onto the reins of Tigger his stubborn 9 year old chestnut thoroughbred gelding. He sighed as the gelding stood stock still refusing to move a few times after a few moment coaxing the dark haired boy finally managed to coax his unruly gelding to the gate of the arena he opened it walked into the arena and winced as he noticed the other horse and rider in ring which were now shooting across the aren because the horse spooked at the gate.
He slipped his helmet on and swung himself into the saddle fixing his reins and position before he got Tigger to straight into a nice fast and collected trot around the ring he waved to the other horse and rider in the ring it was just his luck that his first meeting with another rider in the ring had started off so badly with their horse spooking and Tigger being his usual unruly self. Aaron called out softly, "Hey there, I'm sorry about that are you ok?" He hoped they were it would be horrible if they weren't alright.

Kenzie went back to posting Psynner's rather bouncy trot. It would take ten minutes, or more, to get him tractable enough for serious work. Luckily - or not, as Psynner saw it - she now had company: a boy she didn't recognize. Kenzie had been at Halcyon for a long time, but she rode at odd hours and mostly socialized with the grooms, so there were plenty of boarders and riders she didn't know.
She didn't say hello yet, just offered a nod in the boy's direction. Kenzie watched out of the corner of her eye as her new ringmate struck up a trot on a Thoroughbred-looking gelding. Psynnner didn't seem to mind the horse, thankfully. Sometimes he had issues with other horses, sometimes not. The horse really was a crap shoot.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Used to it with him," she responded when addressed. Kenzie loosened her reins and was pleased to feel Psynner stretching down and out. She let him stay there for a few strides, then closed her fingers and asked him to come back to her. Slowly, she tightened her draw rein until there was just a small drape in the leather. It was just there for backup, anyway; there was no need to keep it active all the time.
Psynner was working well enough that Kenzie felt comfortable diverting some of her attention to the boy on the chestnut. "I don't think we've met before. I'm Kenzie, and this is Psynner," she said, just loud enough to be heard.

Aaron gave her a short and was about to speak when Tigger being the king of horrible timing swerved violently and tried to drop his head to the ground had Aaron not felt the Chestnut geldings muscles moving towards the right as he swerved and swiftly shortened his reins and dug his hells down he would have gone flying up and over the unruly geldings head. Aaron gritted his teeth and turned Tigger back to the left and gave him a hard tap with his crop when he refused he would not get away with his unruliness not today.
Aaron at light in the saddle ready to swing Tigger back into the proper track should the gelding try anymore of his usual tricks. He said to the girl as he once again passed by them, "That's good wouldn't want to give you any trouble it would be a nasty way to make a first impression and Nice to meet you Kenzie and you too Psynner i'm Aaron and this unruly bother here is Tigger" I gave her a joking laugh at his own half-hearted insult to his gelding who was now the image of a calm and well behaved gelding but he could change in a split second so one had to always be prepared when around Tigger.

Kenzie tried not to laugh at the boy's unfortunate timing. She knew the feeling, really she did, especially with Psynner. And it wasn't really nice to laugh at someone else's expense, but she couldn't restrain a smile and a soft giggle. She wasn't even sure if Aaron could hear her.
Psynner tucked his head in again, prompting Kenzie to close her legs against his sides and urge him forward into the bridle. Again, she had to restrain the explosive forward motion, but at least he was in front of the bit.
Kenzie did a large circle as Aaron came close to them again. "Nice to meet you, too," she said. "Let me guess - jumpers?" There was really no other option. Tigger didn't look anything like a top hunter, being too forward and unruly, and Aaron definitely wasn't one of the stick-thin tall blondes that dominated the equitation scene at Halcyon. He was probably her competition, and in the same boat as her, what with a somewhat uncooperative horse.

Aaron shortened his reins a tad more and gave Tigger a big forceful kick sending the 16.1 hand chestnut gelding spurting forwards. He took Tigger around the ring once more before he glanced at Kenzie as heard her giggling at him softly he shook his head finding himself smiling at nothing really but himself and at Tigger and his timing of events. He sent Tigger forwards into a swift yet controlled canter with a big tap of his long black riding crop.
Aaron glanced over at Kenzie and Psynner and said, "You guessed right Tigger's too unruly to be of much use for anything else really but I love him anyways how about you?" He swiftly gave Tigger a big kick and pulled his right rein sharply as he felt the gelding start to try and swerve to the left he was not going to let him get away with his tricks again.

Kenzie bridged her reins and dropped a hand to Psynner's neck, stroking him lightly and cooing. He was being very good - or at the very least, better than he usually was, especially with an unfamiliar horse in the ring. She sat back and pushed her legs slightly forward, shifting her weight to the rear of the saddle, and Psynner transitioned to a walk cleanly.
If he wasn't so psycho, Psynner would be a god equitation horse. If Kenzie wasn't so nice and non-psycho, she might be a good equitation rider. Needless to say, she did not think highly of the big eq girls.
"Mmm, jumpers, too. We're going to the Thanksgiving show in a few weeks for the high junior jumpers. Are you going?" she asked politely. It would be nice to see someone without a broke-to-death horse in the same ring as her.

Aaron turned Tigger in a wide half-circle type thing in an attempt to help the gelding focus more on him and not everything around him which included Kenzie and her horse. Aaron patted Tigger's shoulder strongly grinning proudly as the gelding went forward on his own accord and fell into a nice easy rhythm as they circled around the large ring a few times in that direction before changing over to back in the opposite direction.
If Tigger kept up his unusually good behavior the pair might even get a chance to canter a little bit which would be nice because from the looks of Kenzie she was starting to cool her horse down which usually meant a rider was getting ready to leave the arena to go untack and re groom their horses. Aaron patted Tigger's shoulder once more as he said, "Nice and yeah I think so it'll be good for me and Tigger to show off our skills he is the worlds most well behaved horse the second he gets into the show ring but the second he's in the stables arena he's an unruly brute i'll never understand his logic"

Oh, sweetheart, Kenzie thought to herself as Psynner shied sideways from something she couldn't see. She touched her inside draw rein, tightening it just a little and releasing it quickly. Psynner bent from the shoulder to the inside, away from the scary thing. Kenzie shifted her weight and leg and asked for a canter - if Psynner was going to go somewhere, it would be her idea, dammit.
Aaron seemed to be having a nicer time with Tigger, too - they were going around the ring at a nice pace. Kenzie wondered what she would do with a horse that was willfully disobedient, like Tigger. She was momentarily grateful to just have a horse who was scared of everything, not trying to unseat her at every turn.
Kenzie's mouth turned up on one side. She knew the feeling of a bipolar horse - Psynner was one of them himself. "Lucky! Psynner gets even hotter in the show ring. I swear he feels the energy and just feeds off it. He's way faster, but if I'm just a little bit off, I'm on the ground faster, too," she replied. "So have you been at Halcyon long?" Hopefully the answer was no; Kenzie would feel terrible if Aaron had been there longer than she had and she still didn't know his name.
